Back in the 1970’s Giorgio Giannelli was a young man with a passion for motorcycles and racing those motorcycles off-road. As the years progressed and Giorgio developed his interest in the mechanics and performance of the motorcycles he was racing, this was the catalyst for what would become Arrow Special Parts. Founded in 1985, the company was established with a commitment to the production of high-performance exhaust systems. This saw the company designing and building two stroke exhaust systems and other special parts for the popular Motocross and off-road motorcycles of the era, working with riders like Michele Rinaldi, who at the time was the reigning 125 Class MX World Champion.
Just a couple of seasons later Arrow would win their first World Championship, when Belgian rider Georges Jobé won the World 500cc Motocross Championship. An amazing result for a company that was still in its infancy. Regardless of the success Giorgio and Arrow had achieved to this stage, they continued to strive forward, releasing their new line of four stroke motorcycle exhausts after extensive testing and development, which included working with Edi Orioli and Honda who won the 1988 Paris-Dakar Rally using Arrow exhausts.
Now established as one of the biggest brands within the motorcycling industry worldwide, Arrow would work with some of the biggest names in World Championship motorcycle racing both on road and off throughout the 1990’s, including Puzar, Parker, Schmidt, Schwantz, Moore, Biaggi, Doohan, Criville, Bartolini and Chambon, all crowned World Champions using Arrow exhausts. Working with these motocross and road racing champions and their respective teams was fundamental in further boosting the Arrow brand and allowing them to continue to perfect the level of quality, performance and reliability that was built into every exhaust system manufactured. The 90’s also saw Arrow make significant investments in research and development, with the creation of a dedicated R&D department, as well as a Race-Lab, specifically designed to provide direct on-track support to the race teams that use Arrow exhausts. With the success on the track, Arrow continued to expand the range of exhausts that were made available, continually developing and releasing new exhaust systems for street bikes and scooters.
In an exciting time for research and development, Arrow had begun researching new materials and experimenting with titanium and carbon fibre. These new materials would see Arrow reach new heights with their exhaust production, with exhausts that were lighter, offered more performance and a unique style that had not been seen before.
Today Arrow manufactures exhaust systems for a huge range of sports bikes, road bikes, off-road bikes, tourers, cruisers, scooters and maxi-scooters. Most of the exhausts in the Arrow range meet the stringent European Standards, making them completely road legal here in Australia, with certification included with all compliant products.
Arrow to this day still completes all its design, development, testing and production processes in San Giustino, Italy, Arrow HQ, utilising 3D CAD modelling and state of the art manufacturing equipment and processes. And it is this state of the art manufacturing that sees some of the biggest motorcycle manufacturer’s partner with Arrow to build OEM and genuine accessory exhausts, with the likes of Aprilia, Beta Motor, Husqvarna, Moto Guzzi, MV Agusta, Kawasaki Malaysia, Piaggio and Triumph partnering with Arrow.
