Pirelli Rosso Corsa

Luke Burgess on fire at Morgan Park

15th July 2010

Round 2 , This was the first round for the 600cc Super sport class.  We took Luke’s ZX600 down so he could have a practice on it on Friday at the track day as he has not ridden it yet.  We took the standard fairings off it and fitted the race fairings to it in raw form.  The rest of the bike was how it came out of the box in every way , standard exhausts , gearing , etc.

Luke adapted to it very quickly and was told that if his lap times got to a 1.10 he should compete in the title.  After 2 practice sessions, his time went to a 1.08 so we put in a late nomination for him.

On race day Luke qualified to our amazement in 5 th .  After two days of racing which was made up of 4 rounds Luke finished up in 4th position and lowered his lap time again to a 1.07.  He also has never ridden on this track before and ZX 6 don’t come anymore standard than his.

We are wrapped that he took a standard ZX6R to 4th place in the SUPERSPORT CLASS.  He now sits in first place with a comfortable lead in the 250 super sport class and 4th in the 600cc Super sport class going in to the final round of the titles.

Fellow competitors, spectators etc could not believe what he and a out of the box Kawasaki managed.
