Queensland Yamaha rider Tamara Gray took maximum points at the third round of the Sunshine State Motocross Series.

The deep black sand of Coolum Pines played host to the third round of the Shell Advance Sunshine State Motocross Series.  Recent rain made a swamp of the pits, however it was prime conditions for racing.

Tamara rode smart and consistent in the choppy sand to take both moto wins in the Senior Women’s Open class ahead of Courtney Knight and Sarah Guthrie.

The perfect point score has now pushed her up to within just two points of the lead rider, putting her in good stead for the remaining five rounds.

“I had a game plan of riding smooth and trying to not ride over my head for this race.  I know from my experience Coolum can be challenging for me when it gets chopped out.  So I am most pleased that despite some heavy competition I stayed composed enough to get the job done.”

“I have been really enjoying the racing so far this series, the competition has been fantastic.  I know I have to bring my A game each race to run at the front.  That’s why I can’t be thankful enough for my new sponsor MPT Fitness which I started with this week.  I have never had a trainer before so I am keen to see what I can really get out of myself on the track.”

Tamara puts motocross behind her for this week as she heads to her next event the opening round of the Snap Fitness/Team Moto Sprint Series at Gympie this Sunday the 8th of May.

Tamara considered a pioneer of women’s motorcycle racing is currently ranked first in Queensland for Natural Terrain MX, and second for Motocross, with a ranking of seventh nationally.  Tamara has won 10 QLD senior WMX championships and was the first women in QLD to be graded to intermediate amongst men’s competition.

Tamara continues to race for the love of racing and riding motorcycles.
