The Dean Evans Revolution Accessories Yamaha R1, with brothers Damian and Alex Cudlin on board and with engine work by Rob Halford of Central Coast Performance, took fourth place outright riding on Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC tyres. With very limited testing having begun in the week of the event, the hastily prepared but well equipped team managed an impressive result in its inagural outing at the 6 hour endurance event. Qualifying third, the team persevered through some challenging mechanical issues early in the race that lost valuable time and racing laps. Both Damian and Alex displayed their professional race craft to almost claw their way on to the podium by the end of this final race at Oran Park circuit. The Diablo Supercorsa showed its World Supersport developed performance and durability in the high track and air temperatures (close to 40 degrees for most of the day) with an impressive 111 laps being completed on the rear tyre prior to the first tyre change, while the front completed a further two 45 minute sessions before swapping for the final stages of the race.

In the Production Class, Team Green 2 took an emphatic victory for Pirelli and Kawasaki using Diablo Supercorsa SC tyres. Mark Hatch, Jason Kain and Rod Taplin brought their ZX10 home well ahead of the other production machines, and also took fifth outright ahead of 10 of the more more highly modified Superstock machines in the event.
Team Green 1 riders Jamie Aitken, Murray Clarke and Michael McMillan finished just outside the top ten after an impressive fightback from a low side crash earlier in the race. The team showed impressive pace over the weekend of qualifying and racing on the Aitkens Motorcycle World prepared Kawasaki ZX10.

James Spence: "I'm very pleased with Bel-Ray, the 4 main tyre distributors and Honda Australia for becoming a part of our Championship. In the golden years the 6 Hour was a race run and won on the best tyre and bike package available. Now everyone has access to the same tyres and bikes. Our event will host some big names and strong teams but everyone competing will have the opportunity to prepare themselves and their bike as well as choose the best equipment just like any other team. As we experienced last year, the most important aspects of Endurance racing are preparation before the race, staying out of trouble during the race and spending as little time as possible in the pits during pit stops. I believe anyone can win this race. Phillip Island has a reputation for punishing tyres so those who focus on bike set-up and spend time on their race strategy will be the key players after 5 hours."
Honda Australia will be part of the 2010 6 Hour and hoping to win the event back to back after last year's impressive victory at Oran Park. Suzuki Australia is also considering not only their involvement in the 6 Hour but how many bikes they may enter in the race. The Australian Endurance Championship is not restricted to a single tyre manufacturer. Bridgestone, Dunlop, Metzeler and Pirelli will all be involved at full strength as the tyre war begins with full race support services from Dunlop, Pirelli and Bridgestone at the island for this years race. As International riders and teams cast an inquisitive eye over the Bel-Ray 6 Hour, one can only imagine that on Sunday December 5, 2010, Phillip Island will herald another step toward the return of the golden years of Australian Endurance racing. 29 teams have entered the 2010 Bel-Ray 6 Hour , however that figure is expected to increase to more than 40 teams as we move closer to the race.
Final Tyre list and Industry Contingency packages for this year's race as well as special event pricing details for teams to be able to comply with contingency payouts will be available on the 6 Hour website from Friday 24th September. The 2010 Bel Ray 6 Hour will be held at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit over the weekend of December 3rd - 5th 2010. The 6 Hour will commence with the traditional Le Mans style start at 10.30am with none other than 6 Hour legend and Grand Prix hero Kevin Magee giving the riders their starting orders.
A huge 2 hour TV program will capture all the action and will be developed and shown on Fox Sports with details and replay times and dates to be released in early October.
Supplementary rules and regulations have been released for this year's event and are available on the website along with event information and entry forms. Visit www.the6hour.com.au for more information.
