The wet and tacky conditions of the Horsham round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals saw a stunning 1,2 overall result in the MX 1 class for Pirelli Scorpion MX riders, with a 1,2,3 result for in the MX2 class for Pirelli Scorpion MX.

MX1

Brad Anderson (Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing) carded the fastest qualifying time of with a 2.06.407 using 80/100-21 Pirelli Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 front, combined with 120/80-19 matching rear.

Come moto 1 and it was an in form Todd Waters (Motul Pirelli Suzuki) taking the race win, using the successful combination of Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 front and rear. Moto two saw his New Zealand Teammate Cody Cooper (Motul Pirelli Suzuki) show his full potential to take out the win in the 2nd 15 minute moto.

As they lined up for the final 30 minute moto, the track had become more tacky and dryer in sections, still the perfect playground for Pirelli Scorpion MX. Todd Waters again showed great pace in the final longer 30 minute moto, eventually finishing second to experienced MX World Championship runner up Josh Coppins in the final race of the day.

It was enough though for Waters to take the round win just ahead of teammate Cooper, and close the gap from 2nd to first place to just 8 points with 3 rounds of the championship remaining.

MX2

The Motul MX 2 class continues to show the increased confidence placed in Pirelli Scorpion MX tyres to give optimum race performance by both factory and privateer riders. Leading Privateer Adam Monea (Team Axis 07) showed just what is possible with the Moto 1 win on Pirelli Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 front and rear, and strong results in the other 2 motos for 2nd overall for the round. Moto 2 and 3 however was dominated by Josh Cachia (JDR KTM) on his Pirelli Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 shod KTM, continuing to utilise the new Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 110/85-19 rear size designed for 250 4 stroke racers. Ford Dale (Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing) rounded out the overall podium in 3rd with a consistent day, making up ground in the championship points on red plate holder Luke Styke (Serco Metal Mulisha Yamaha) who rode 3 smart races to remain in a strong position leading the championship. The Horsham crowd also witnessed the welcome return of Brenden Harrison (JDR KTM) with a strong first round back from injury, and an unlucky round for a bruised and battered Kirk Gibbs (Serco Metal Mulisha Yamaha). In the Motul MX2 Championship, Currently 8 of the top 10 riders are using Pirelli tyres.

The Monster Energy MX Nationals now heads to Appin, on the outskirts of Sydney, for the next round of the championship on Sunday 28 July.
