Pirelli Riders Win MX1 And MX2 At Murray Bridge MX Nationals 14th June 2012
Todd Waters (Motul Pirelli Suzuki) took the MX1 round win at Murray Bridge (South Australia) for Pirelli Scorpion MX, while Josh Cachia (JDR Motorsport KTM) took the MX2 win.
MX1 (Pro Opens)
MX1 qualifying saw the fastest time go to Brad Anderson (Carlton Dry Thor Honda Racing) with a time of 1.50.37, using Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 front and rear. MX1 moto 1 saw a well prepared but soft and muddy track, with other section more loamy, where the Scorpion MX range could take full advantage. Todd Waters (Motul Pirelli Suzuki) raced to victory in this first moto using 90/100-21 front and 120/80-19 Mid Soft 32, and this combination worked well even in the soft and muddy conditions on some parts of the track. Brad Anderson (Carlton Dry Thor Honda Racing) also used Mid Soft 32 to finish in 2nd place for the 1st moto. Waters also took the win in the 2nd back to back 15 minute moto, with team mate Cody Cooper 3rd using the Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 Mud option on the rear. Dan Reardon (JDR KTM) also saw a return to stronger results at this round. The final 30 minute moto saw a drying track, with Pirelli riders again choosing Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 as their tyre of choice. Englishman Brad Anderson used his experience to take the longer final mot, ahead of a consistent Todd Waters in 2nd place. The overall round win went to Todd Waters, ahead of Brad Anderson and Lawson Bopping. "This is my first year on Pirelli and I really love the tyres" said Todd Waters after the race. "The MX Mid Soft 32 rear really hooks up, and I'm looking forward to doing more testing over the break before Hervey Bay".
MX2 (Pro Lites)
The MX 2 class saw another new round winner at Murray Bridge. Using MX Mid Soft 32 front and the 110/90-19 MX Mid Soft 32 MUD rear, Josh Cachia (JDR Motorex KTM) took the round win and also moto 2 win. Ford Dale (Carlton Dry Thor Honda Racing) qualified fastest with a time of 1.58.56, and also took out the moto 1 win on Pirelli Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 MUD rear. The final 30 minute Moto was won by privateer Cheyne Boyd (DPH Honda), with a surprise holeshot to Erroll Willis (Raceline Pirelli Suzuki) after making a change to MX Soft 410 for the final moto. with the overall round win to Cachia ahead of Boyd and Dale for a Pirelli 1, 2, 3. Luke Styke (Serco Metal Mulisha Yamaha) retains the leaders red plate in the MX2 class for Pirelli Scorpion MX.
