Pirelli riders took all 3 podium positions in the MX 2 Class at the Wanneroo round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals, and also 3rd place in the MX1 Class.

MX2

Wanneroo presented riders with deep sand right around the track, perfect racing conditions for the Pirelli Scorpion MX Soft 410. The track quickly became rutted and bumpy, with the conditions testing all riders and their machinery to the limit over the 2 day event. Pirelli privateer rider Cheyne Boyd (DPH Motorsport Racing) qualified fastest on Saturday in MX 2 with a time of 1.48.495,using Pirelli Scorpion MX Soft 410 front and rear, ahead of Luke Styke (Serco Metal Mulisha Yamaha).

Moto 1 on Sunday saw a reverse of these positions, with Styke taking out the initial Moto ahead of Cheyne Boyd, showing the versatility of the Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 front when combined with the Scorpion MX Soft 410 rear. The second of the back to back 15 minute motos saw another win for Luke Styke (Serco Metal Mulisha Yamaha), ahead of team mate Kirk Gibbs and a consistently fast Cheyne Boyd in 3rd. The final 30 minute moto was an extreme test of rider fitness, bike set up and sometimes luck, with privateer rider Adam Monea (Team 07 Suzuki Motorsports) taking the moto 3 win for Pirelli ahead of Kade Mosig (Kawasaki) and Cheyne Boyd (DPH Motorsport Racing).Overall result was a 1,2,3 result for Pirelli with Luke Styke 1st, Cheyne Boyd 2nd and Adam Monea 3rd.

MX1

MX1 Qualifying on the Saturday saw Pirelli riders Brad Anderson (Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing) qualify 2nd and Todd Waters (Motul Pirelli Suzuki) 3rd using Pirelli Scorpion MX Mid Soft 410 front and rear, behind experienced sand rider Josh Coppins, with all riders set for some close racing come Sunday.

Moto 1 saw a promising start for Pirelli, with Brad Anderson the best of the Pirelli riders finishing 3rd ,Todd Waters 4th ahead of fellow Suzuki rider Dan McCoy (Hart and Huntington) in 5th. Moto 2 saw Todd Waters (Motul Pirelli Suzuki) the best of the Pirelli riders in 4th, with Brad Anderson experiencing a tough 2nd moto, finishing well down in the points. The final 30 minute moto again tested the riders to the extreme, with the bumpy track becoming increasingly rutted and many whoops forming towards the end of the day. Brad Anderson (Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing) bounced back to take 2nd place, ahead of a consistent Todd Waters (Motul Pirelli Suzuki). But the MX1 round belonged to the experienced Josh Coppins, with Todd Waters rewarded for his consistency with 3rd overall for the round.

Round 5 of the Monster Energy MX Nationals will be at Murray Bridge in South Australia this Sunday , May 20.
