Pirelli riders take 1st and 2nd in MX 2 class at Coonabarabran MX Nationals, and also 1st in the MXD Under 19's Class.

Luke Styke (Serco Metal Mullisha Yamaha) took a clean sweep of MX 2 races at round 2 of the Monster Energy MX Nationals held at Connabarabran, New South Wales. Using a 90/100-21 Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 front and the new 110/85-19 Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 rear, Sykes blitzed the opposition in the MX class ahead of team mate Kirk Gibbs (Serco Metal Mullisha Yamaha) who took 2nd for the round.

Luke Styke "Everybody was working good, the team was good, my YZ250F was unreal and it all paid off. The track was unbelievable, really suited my style, and the Pirelli tyres definitely did their job. It's all good and I'm really happy to be leading the championship with Serco Yamaha."

Other notable performances by Pirelli riders in the MX2 class were Cheyne Boyd (Honda) in 4th and Ford Dale (Carlton Dry Thor Honda) in 5th , with Scott Columb (Motul Pirelli Suzuki) showing good speed and finishing 6th overall for the round as he gains confidence on the his Suzuki RM-Z 250. In the dry and sometimes dusty conditions, the well watered and prepped track at Goanna Tracks showed conditions varying form mid hard to soft, showing the versatility of the Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 across this wide range of racing conditions.

In the MX1 class, the big news was the injury to Ben Townley (Carlton Dry Thor Honda), who crashed early in practice, dislocating his hip. Ben was airlifted to hospital and is due for surgery in the coming days. Link International and Pirelli Moto wish him a rapid recovery from his injuries, and a speedy return to the track for this true champion of the sport.

The MX 1 category saw a best round result of 5th place for Pirelli rider Brad Anderson (Carlton Dry Thor Honda), after experiencing arm pump issues on the demanding Goanna Tracks layout. Cody Cooper (Motul Pirelli Suzuki) also saw a return to from at round 2, with 6th overall for this round. Todd Waters (Motul Pirelli Suzuki) endured an unlucky weekend of results, after showing good pace in Saturday qualifying, and salvaged a 5th place in the final moto of the day.

In the Pirelli MX D Class, Tasmanian youngster Dylan Leary (KTM) took the round win for Pirelli Scorpion MX, ahead of Mitch Norris and fellow Pirelli rider Joel Milesevic in 3rd. This exciting development class now sees over half the field choosing Pirelli Scorpion MX as their tyre of choice.
