Pirelli Riders Win Pro Open and Pro Lites at Muddy Wollongong Super X 19th October 2011
PIRELLI RIDERS WIN PRO OPEN AND PRO LITES AT MUDDY WOLLONGONG SUPER X
Motul Pirelli Suzuki rider Daniel McCoy took an emphatic win in the rain affected Pro Open final, while JDR KTM rider Matt Moss took his second Super X win in a row in the Pro Lites class.
Round 2 of the Monster Energy Super X Australian Supercross Championship has seen some strong results for Pirelli riders in both the Pro Open and Pro Lites categories. A late storm forced a change of formats for the finals in both classes, with a switch to a single 10 lap race for the Pro Lites and a single 15 lap race for the Pro Opens.The Under 19's final was cancelled.
In the Pro Opens class, Daniel McCoy (Motul Pirelli Suzuki) took his RM-Z450 to the win ahead of a resurgent Dan Reardon (JDR KTM) and Jay Marmont (CDR Rockstar Yamaha).
Other notable performances by Pirelli riders in the Pro Opens came from Lawson Bopping (Raceline Pirelli Suzuki) in 4th and Tye Simmonds (JDR KTM) in 6th, following on from his Round 1 Victory. Pirelli riders currently hold the the top 3 positions in this class.
The Pro Lites class saw victory for Matt Moss (JDR KTM), making it two round wins from two, both in difficult muddy conditions. Englishmen Steven Clarke (Team Motul Pirelli Suzuki) was 2nd in the final, ahead of a fast Brenden Harrison (JDR KTM), making a 1,2,3 finish in the Pro Lites for Pirelli riders.
Another strong result also for new Serco Yoshimura Yamaha recruit Luke Styke, finishing 5th in the Pro Lites final , with teammate Kirk Gibbs suffering an unfortunate fall in the tricky conditions on his way back from injury.
The series now heads to Campbelltown for round 3 of the Monster Energy Super X Australian Supercross Championship.
