Podium Results For Pirelli Scorpion MX

PJ Larsen (JDR Motorex KTM) has won the Pro Lites Championship of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals final round, held recently at Coolum (QLD).

 

Pirelli riders took a clean sweep of the Lites podium with Kirk Gibbs (Serco Yamaha) finishing second behind PJ Larsen and Ford Dale (Serco Yamaha) third overall for the Pro Lites championship on Pirelli Scorpion MX.

 

Pro Opens In the Pro Open class Jay Marmont (CDR Yamaha) took an impressive third straight Pro Open championship this year ahead of Billy Mackenzie (Cool Air Kawasaki) with privateer Dean Ferris (Honda) taking third overall on Pirelli Scorpion MX.

 

The Coolum track delivered a mixed bag in terms of track conditions, with the usually sandy track also throwing up some hard packed sections to the updated layout. Rain on the Friday night and also Saturday night ensured a soft top layer to the track with a hard base to the many ruts that formed over the weekend, making conditions slippery and difficult for the riders.

 

Most Pirelli riders chose Scorpion MX Mid Soft (32) front and rear, with some also using the new Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 (MUD) rear to get the best from the conditions tricky conditions. Pro Lites

 

The final round of the championship saw some stunning results for the Serco Yamaha team whilst PJ Larsen took his KTM to the overall win by the end of Saturday’s races. Both Kirk Gibbs and Ford Dale took race wins over the weekend in positive sign for the Super X season ahead for the Yamaha riders.

 

Coolum also saw some very positive results for Team Husqvarna Racing with both Matt Ryan and factory Husqvarna rider Matti Seistola both achieving top ten results.

 

SP Motorsports rider Kade Mosig also showed his speed with some impressive results this weekend.

Pirelli under 19’s The Pirelli Under 19’s saw a bunch of hopefuls vying for championship points at the hotly contested final round of the Pirelli supported Under 19’s class.

 

Josh Cachia eventually prevailed ahead of Ross Beaton and Harley Quinlan, with five of the top ten places in the championship taken by Pirelli mounted riders.

 

These included John Phillips (Honda TKMX), Kieran Leigh (Yamaha), Cameron Dillon (Honda TKMX), Ethan Martens (KTM), and a fast finishing Errol Willis (Raceline Pirelli Suzuki).

 

The Coolum round concluded the 2010 Rockstar Energy Drinks MX Nationals. The next major national championship will be the Australian Supercross Championships which commences on October 16.
