Winning was three times as nice for Sherco at the Hattah Desert Race yesterday when three riders collected well earnt class wins in the grueling 8-lap race.
Andy Wilksch dominated the open two-stroke class with the fastest prologue time on Saturday and was never challenged during the race on Sunday. Wilksch crossed the finish line on the Motul Pirelli Sherco 300 SE Factory edition with a huge 9-minute lead over his nearest rival.
“It was great to see Andy earn his best ever result at Hattah with Sherco,” said Sherco Australia’s Stephen Tuff. “Derek Grundy from the Motul Pirelli Sherco Team had that bike set up perfectly with the assistance of Chad’s Off-Road Setups. The bike was solid, and Andy was fit so it was the perfect recipe to showcase just how good the Sherco 300 SE Factory edition really is.”
Justin Carafa made a return to Hattah for the first time since 2015 aboard a Motorcycle Land Ballarat Sherco 250 SE Factory edition and decimated the competition in his class. Carafa lead the 250cc two-stroke charge from the start and completed the event a clear lap ahead of second place.
“Justin was a class above anyone else in the 250cc two-stroke class,” Tuff said. “He’s such a great rider to work with and the boys from Motorcycle Land in Ballarat provided him with the best bike for the job. It was a well-deserved result for all involved.”
American motorcycle journalist, Dennis Stapleton entered the Hattah Desert Race on a Mallee Motorcycles Sherco 450 SEF-R and swiftly showed the Veteran’s Class how it was done. On assignment with Motocross Action Magazine, Stapleton joined forces with Mallee Motorcycles which proved to be a winning combination. Stapleton comfortably won the Vets Class for riders aged 35-44 years.
“It was great to have Dennis racing Hattah on a Sherco,” Tuff enthused. “Motocross Action is a very popular publication around the world so it’s a huge platform to showcase the Hattah event. Dennis was unaccustomed to the fast pace of Hattah but he quickly adapted and it was pleasing to see him enjoying racing on the Sherco.”
