Danielle Foot makes her first AORC podium place while Andy Wilksch strikes it tough

It was a mixed bag of results for Sherco at rounds five and six of the Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) last weekend. The Championship turned on two days of traditional time-card enduro rounds where competitors endured trail sections that linked up two special tests ridden multiple times where riders laid down their best times to determine the winner.
Drought-like conditions delivered a challenging course but Road and River Sherco racer Danielle Foot was able to adapt and record her best-ever AORC result. Foot placed third on Sunday and now sits fourth in the Championship, just eight points off third place.
It was a different story for Andy Wilksch, however, who struggled in the unfamiliar terrain. The Motul Pirelli Sherco Team rider could only manage sixth place in the E3 Class which was enough to secure 15th place outright across all classes.
“I rode in my comfort zone all weekend,” Wilksch lamented. “I struggled with the drought conditions in NSW while the local riders did well. I really need to work on riding faster and getting comfortable in uncomfortable conditions.”
Despite the less than satisfactory result, Wilksch praised the Sherco 300 SE Factory edition for making his weekend of racing so enjoyable.
“The positive from the weekend is I have never had so much fun on the trail as I did on the Factory 300,” Wilksch explained. “The power compliments the handling. This was my first race on the new Factory model in enduro conditions. It was great in the desert at Finke and Hattah but gee is was good in the bush.”
Wilksch has slipped back to fifth position in the E3 Class Championship but is within striking distance of third place with five rounds remaining.
